Yangon, Myanmar, Oct. 22: The new capital city of Myanmar, Nay Pyi Taw, was decorated well to welcome President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
With the flags fluttering by the crossroads and nearby attractive water fountains, locals were enthusiastically awaiting for the arrival of the President from the birthplace of the Buddha.
The warm welcome accorded by the President of Myanmar to the Nepali President was broadcast by the national television channels with high priority.
Nay Pyi Taw situated at the centre of Myanmar was made the new capital of Myanmar one and a half decades ago. Earlier, Yangon or Rangoon was its capital. Old capital city Rangoon has been transformed into a business hub after naming it as Yangon.
Nay Pyi Taw is a beautiful, peaceful and a new modern city. The wide and blacktopped roads with varieties of plants and flowers standing on either side of the roads have added beauty to the city.
The traffic Island and ponds have made it more attractive, giving a glimpse of a developed country.
The city was developed in a forest area by hiring the world famous designers, said Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar. The capital city has been transferred into an administrative and political centre.
President Bhandari arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on a five-day state visit at the invitation of the President of Myanmar, U Win Myint.
The state visit drew special attention of the government and general public. This visit of the Head of the State of Nepal after a gap of four decades was taken as an important step towards further deepening relationship between Nepal and Myanmar.
During the visit of President Bhandari, agreements were signed for the collaboration in various issues.
In the presence of both the presidents, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali from Nepal and Foreign Minister of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi signed a cultural agreement paper on behalf of Nepal and Myanmar respectively.
Likewise, on the tourism and mutual benefits Minister Gyawali and Federal International Minister

Kyau Tin signed an MoU.
After visiting Nay Pyi Taw, President Bhandari visited Pyon Ao Lin, where the people of Nepali origin have settled for generations. President Bhandari addressed the representatives of Nepalis there.
With an hour flight from the capital city, a beautiful hilly settlement was found with high number of Nepali people living there for many generations.
While President Bhandari performed worship at Durga Temple and Pashupatunath Temple at Pyon Ao Lin, a 95 year old senior citizen was expressing his joy.
A retired army captain of Burma, Durgaraj Subedi said, “I am here with the help of this stick on my hand, and I got whatever I wanted.” “We have seen the President of Nepal only in the TV channels and newspapers, now we are seeing her live, it is a dream come true,” said Subedi.
“Though we are far away from Nepali land, we have not forgotten our culture and religion, I said to President Bhandari,” Subedi added. More than 150,000 Nepali people are living in 35 municipals of Myanmar.
Subedi said that the children are taught about the religion and culture, language during their vacation.
Nepali residing in Myanmar demanded that there should be direct flights from Nepal to Myanmar for the Visit Nepal Year 2020. They also demanded free visa for them while visiting Nepal. They also demand help from Nepal to conserve and protect Nepali language in Myanmar.
President Bhandari also visited four thousand Gumba, Chaitya and temple at Bagan city.
During a function organised in Sitagu International Budhdhist Academy, Yangon founder priest Sitagu provided 20 famous sculptures of various countries for keeping them in Lumbini. In the presence of President Bhandari those sculptures were handed over to Surendra Shakya, Treasurer of Lumbini Development Committee.
