My China visit fruitful: Chief Minister Pokhrel

Rupandehi, Oct 19: Chief Minister of State 5, Shankar Pokhrel, said on Saturday that his recent China visit was fruitful in terms of exchanging views and experiences of development and bilateral relations.
Issuing a press note, Chief Minister Pokharel's Press Advisor, Sher Bahadur KC, shared that CM Pokhrel had attended a conference on Sichuan international friendly cities under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
CM Pokhrel had returned home on Friday.
The conference was attended by the representatives from 43 cities of 32 countries. Addressing the inaugural of the programme, CM Pokharel said Chinese President Xi's visit to Nepal and agreements made during the visit had brought new hope and taken the bilateral relations to a new height.
"The BRI initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping is a global campaign, which would be useful to explore new areas of cooperation and development among the countries involved in it," he stressed.
The press note further said CM Pokhrel also addressed the conference of governors after the inaugural, where he said Nepal was establishing a consulate in Chengdu, China.
Following the conference, the representatives from the cities establishing sister city relations decided to take forward the agreements made for the development.
CM Pokharel requested the event participants to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha.
"Nepal is rich in cultural and religious heritages which are attractive for tourists," he mentioned.
The Sichuan city of China was requested to make arrangement for the direct flight from Chengdu to Gautam Buddha International Airport, Bhairahawa.
He also held formal meeting with the leaders of communist party in Sichuan province.
