Kathmandu, Sept 15: The Second meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been put off on Sunday due to the protest of the major opposition party Nepali Congress (NC). The NC parliamentarians stood from their respective seats in a gesture of protest against the Banke incident where NC Banke district President Kiran Koirala and cadres were beaten by a group of unidentified group of youths on September 12. NC parliamentarians were not convinced to the response by Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa in the first meeting and thus stood up from their seats. Speaker Mahara had put off the HoR meeting for ten minutes. The second leg of the meeting had started 10 minutes late. No sooner the Speaker commenced the second round of meeting, NC parliamentarians stood up from their seats to protest. They blamed the Home Ministry of defending the culprits of the incident as the FIR lodged by the victims were not registered yet. As the HoR could not proceed, the Speaker put off the meeting until September 16.
