Kathmandu, Oct. 12: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on Sunday said imposing lockdown again in the Katmandu Valley was not an instant priority and wish of the government.
Speaking at a press conference organised to make the decisions of Cabinet public at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Minister Gyawali said the government had not yet reached any conclusion of imposing lockdown again in the Valley.
"Series of meetings and discussions are held in the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre-Operation (CCMC-OPs), but the government has not reached any conclusion about imposing lockdown in the Valley," Minister Gyawali said.
Rather than imposing lockdown, controlling the deepening crisis of the COVID-19 is all in the hands of the public if they are able to assume high alertness, Gyawali, who is also the government spokesperson, said.
But if the general public to continue disobeying the government's repeated calls to adopt precautions and safety measures, the government may impose lockdown at any time, he said.

Ban on import of foreign liquors lifted
The government has lifted the ban imposed on importing foreign liquors as proposed by Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
The government had put restriction on the import of foreign liquors on March 29. The country is importing around Rs. 2 billion worth of foreign liquors annually, according to Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
The Cabinet meeting also lifted up the ban imposed on importing expensive private cars worth more than USD 50,000 meant for foreign diplomatic offices and the office bearers from abroad.

Appointments in some offices
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting held on September 8 appointed Dim Prakash Poudel as the general manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) for a maximum of four years. He is a chartered accountant by profession. Poudel is currently serving as the board member at NAC. He was appointed as board member in June.
The government has also appointed Sanuraj Shakya of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-21 as member secretary of Lumbini Development Trust, Dr. Basistha Prasad Rijal as chairman of Vector Borne Disease Research and Training Centre (VBDRTC), Dr. Baburaja Amatya as chairman of Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana Vikas Samiti (SDVKVS) and Dr. Dev Bahadur Rokka Chhetri as chairman of National Ayurveda Research and Training Centre.
