By Nabaraj Kattel, Biratnagar, Dec. 31: The Nepal Communist Party Prachanda-Madhav faction has removed Sher Dhan Rai from the position of leader of the NCP's parliamentary party.
Rai, who is also the Chief Minister of Province 1, was removed from the position of the leader of the parliamentary party after a vote of no confidence was registered against him, thereby proposing Bhim Prasad Acharya as the Chief Minister of Province 1.
A letter signed by 36 members of the parliamentary party of the NCP in the Province 1 Assembly stated that Rai was removed from the leadership and Acharya was appointed for the same was registered in the Provincial Assembly.
It has been said that the meeting of the majority of members of the Provincial Assembly representing the NCP held on Thursday had removed Rai from the position.
Although 37 members had signed in the vote of no confidence, only 36 were present in the meeting today.
