By Amrit Prasad Paudel, Beni, July 10: At least 11 persons have died while 22 others have gone missing due to landslides at different places in Myagdi district. Some 35  houses have completely been damaged by the landslides, according to the District Administration Office.

Of those who lost lives due to the landslips, 2 persons are from Takam of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-7, 8 persons are from Malika Rural Municipality-7 and a person from Thadakhani of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-6.

21 people have gone missing in Marang, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-6 of western Myagdi, informed Gyannath Dhakal, Chief District Officer (CDO).

Likewise, one each of Mangala and Malika Rural Municipalities have gone missing in Dhukhu flood.

According to Dhakal, 20 houses in Marang and five in Takam of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality and ten houses in Bim, Malika Rural Municipality-7 have been completely damaged.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kiran Jung Kunwar of Myagdi District Police Office said that the police were deployed in the place of incident. The details have not been received yet, he said.

Likewise, the Bailey Bridge over Rahughat River in Beni-Jomsom road section has been destructed, said CDO Dhakal. Security workers have been deployed in all areas, he said.

The landslide has completely obstructed Beni-Jomsom road section. The flooding followed by incessant rainfall has washed away a bridge at Galeshwor, Beni Municipality-9. 85 people of 29 households have been shifted to a safer place.

Mahesh Subedi, Assistant CDO of Myagdi, said that details of the damages caused by the landslide and flood in the district were being collected.
