Kathmandu, Oct. 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday said that the government had made grand preparations to make the state visit of President of People's Republic of China Xi Jinping a success. Security bodies from Nepali Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force have key roles and responsibilities to make the visit of the Chinese President a grand success, he added. Prime Minister Oli made this remark while addressing the 64th Nepal Police Day at the Police Headquarters, Naxal, this morning. Analysing various goals and priorities, the government has been moving ahead towards fulfilling people’s aspirations of development and prosperity by further nurturing the bilateral relations with China and its people, he said. "Today, we are in such a day and moment that Nepal is going to witness state level visit from one of the powerful nations, China, after 23 years, and towards this initiation, the government has made a grand preparation to make the visit historical," Prime Minister Oli said. Security bodies have also completed their preparations from their respective places leaving no stone unturned to make the visit of President Xi a success, he said. The Nepal Police has played an exemplary role in combating natural disasters, maintaining social harmony, and keeping cultural balance in the society. On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli also instructed Nepal Police to conduct free and fair investigation of any criminal activity without looking at the 'face and designation' of people implicated in any crime. "Nepal Police is all independent and free to conduct its fair investigation into any suspicious crime and offensive activities," Prime Minister Oli said. "Police organisation doesn't need to worry about which party is leading the government and who is in opposition; these are not the issues Nepal Police should be occupied with when investigating and grilling people suspected of committing a crime," PM Oli said. The only one job and duty of Nepal Police is to adhere and move according to the law, he said. Prime Minister Oli also suggested not entertaining any level of pressure while conducting an investigation. Unwarranted pressure on Nepal Police hampers investigation, so it needs to move according to the rules and regulations, he said. Peace and security is possible and can be ensured in the society when the police stop entertaining external pressure. As the nation has been moving ahead on the path of prosperity, the very first condition for the country is peace and security, he said. Meanwhile, Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal directed the Nepal Police to act and present itself sternly to stop violence against women and children. Nepal Police, who enjoy people’s trust and confidence, should not indulge themselves in any type of irregularity, and if found, they cannot be excused anymore. Inspector General of Nepal Police Sarbendra Khanal said that Nepal Police was always ready to do what it can to build durable peace and social transformation in the society. He said Nepal Police was firmly dedicated to maintain the rule of law in the country by discouraging criminal activities.
