Kathmandu, Jan. 8: Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokhrel said on Tuesday that involvement and coordination among the three-tier government was essential for the development and prosperity of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister stressed on the formulation and implementation of planning for prosperous Nepal.
“Implementation is not easy as expected due to the lack of new policies as per the changed system,” he said while addressing a programme on Inclusive Democracy and Prosperity jointly organised by National Concern and Coordination Committee of the National Assembly and National Forum of Parliamentarians for Population and Development, here.
DPM Pokhrel said that the pace of development and prosperity was moving ahead by overcoming the contradiction between practice and necessity.
“Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali is not an abstract slogan. We are first centered on this matter to go to socialism through growth of production, employment, skill development and national capital development through self-employment,” he stated.
He further said that the development of agriculture, industry, energy, tourism and infrastructure was the basis for Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.
DPM Prokhrel was of view that it was high time to modernise the traditional agriculture system and manage the ownership of land.
Similarly, Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada said that the market of prosperity that could be achieved through the means of knowledge was greater than the prosperity based on capital and land.
Minister Dr. Khatiwada said, “Nowadays, science and technology are major means of power. No community should be deprived in terms of the use of science and technology.”
Inclusive development was the fundamental element of prosperity, he said.
Minister Khatiwada added that the world had easily accepted the policy and strategy that were democratically adopted for the development system and economic development.
According to him, the current international atmosphere was suitable for Nepal, internally political stability was in place and coordination between development stakeholders existed.
“No class, community and region should be marginalised. Political system, pattern and path are the driver for it,” Khatiwada stated.
Likewise, former chair of National Planning Commission Dr. Swarnim Wagle said that the country had prepared a ground for graduating to developing nation from the status of the least developed country.
According to Dr. Wagle, the journey of prosperity was proceeding ahead by encouraging the prospect of development after the country adopted federalism.
Similarly, lawmaker and member of National Forum of Parliamentarians for Population and Development Badri Prasad Pandey stressed on the implementation of the concept of inclusive democracy, urging one all to rise above prejudices and the spirit of ruling and opposition.
On the occasion, Australian Ambassador to Nepal Peter Budd said that his country was supporting Nepal in its journey towards the path of development and prosperity through the means of federalism.
