Banepa (Kavre), Oct. 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota said on Saturday that the government was committed to establish the rule of law in the country.
Expressing anger over the Nepali Congress’s protest over the arrest of parliamentary member Aftab Alam on the 12-year-old alleged murder case, Minister Baskota said that the government would not leave anyone involved in misconduct.
Speaking on the oath taking function of Kavre district committee of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the first meeting of the committee, Minister Baskota said that wrong things could not be established in the society.
“I want to repeat again, wrong things could not be established in the society. Leaders of the Nepali Congress should not stay in illusion; the government will establish the rule of law in the country,” Minister Baskota said.
Minister Baskota said that there was no communist rule in the country now though the government was formed by the communist party. Therefore, the rule of law has prevailed in the country and no one remain away from the ambit of law, he added.
“When the case of speakers happened yesterday, Nepali Congress leaders saw it as the rule of law taking effect but when the government arrested an accused of burning alive 22 people Alam they saw it as a misuse of law by the state mechanism and as an incident of bad governance,” Baskota said.
He questioned the ‘ integrity’ the main opposition party saying that the party had at one hand, demanded the establishment of good governance and on the other it protested against the arrest of accused person for killing 22 people.
He said that it would not make any different to the government if anyone explained the action taken by the government against wrong doers as dictatorship, authoritarianism or fascism.
The rule and law are applicable equally to all and therefore the government will bring all wrong doers into the legal net, he added.
Urging the cardres of NCP to wait for some time to get responsibility from the unified party, Minister Baskota stressed on winning the hearts of people by competing in doing good works at grassroots level.
On the occasion, 126 members of Kavre district committee of NCP were sworn-in by Asthalaxmi Shakya, In-charge of Party State Committee of State No. 3.
Shakya directed leaders and cardres of the party to expand party committees to the lower levels.
Three deputy in-charges of State 3 Hitman Shakya, Hitman Tamang, Kashinath Adhikari, Chairman of the State Narayan Dahal, Secretary Ananda Pokharel were present at the function.
