Kathmandu, Mar. 26: Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has requested all education institutions in the country to run their academic activities with strict adherence to health and safety protocol against COVID-19.
It had asked for using sanitizer, frequent hand wash and maintaining physical distance and other precautions. Issuing a statement on Thursday citing the increasing risk of COVID-19 infection, the ministry has urged the academic institutions to analyse the current situation and run activities accordingly.
It requested not to conduct events like gathering, assembly and annual meeting as the situation was gradually worsening.
The statement was issued following a review meeting chaired by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha. The meeting reviewed the possibility of risk of COVID-19 infection and possible adverse effects on the health of teachers and students and the activities of educational institutions, the statement read.
The ministry requested the educational institutions to follow the ‘School Operating Framework, 2077’.
Schools across the country are running classes physically after more than seven months closure.
The government has extended this academic session by two months.
