By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 31: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Monday confirmed 899 more cases of COVID-19.

In 11,129 Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 899 persons, 303 females and 596 males, were found to be infected with the virus, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Okhadhunga, Khotang, Jhapa, Morang, Sankhuwasabha, Sunsari, Parsa, Dhanusa, Bara, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavre, Chitwan, Dolakha, Dhading, Makwanput, ramechhap, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Kaski, Gorkha, Tanahun, Nawalparasi (East), Lamjung, Baglung, Argakhanchi, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi (West), Palpa, Bardiya, Banke, Rupandehi, Jumla, Surkhet, Achcham, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Doti, Bajhang and Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 588 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities across the nation were discharged after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 54 per cent.

Currently, there are 17,822 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 10,701 are in institutional isolation and 7,121 are in home isolation. Some 7,337 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active cases, patients 132 are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 16 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 39,460 including 21,410 cases of recovery.
