COVID-19 Update: Tally surges to 35,529 with 1,111 new cases, 569 recovered

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 27: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thursday confirmed 1,111 new cases of COVID-19.

In 12,629 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last24 hours, as many as 1,111 persons, 334 females and 777 males, were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing on Thursday.

The new cases were detected in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Khotang, Morang, Sankhuwasabha, Sunsari, Dhanusa, Parsa, Bara, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kavre, Chitwan, Dolkha, Dhading, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Ramechhap, Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Kaski, Gorkha, Tanahun, Nawalparasi (East), Parbat, Lamjung, Baglung, Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Dang, Nawalparasi (West), Pyuthan, Banke, Bardiya, Rupandehi, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Surkhet, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Doti, Bajhang and Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 569 COIVD-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 56 per cent.

Currently, there are 15,273 active cases of COVID-19 of which 9,063 are in institutional isolation and 6,210 are in home isolation. Some 9,486 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active virus-infected patients, 17 are receiving treatment with a ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 35,529 including 20,073 cases of recovery and eight death cases.
