By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 28: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Friday confirmed 927 new cases of COVID-19.

In 10,229 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 927 persons, 334 females and 593 males, were found with the virus infection, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing on Friday.

The new cases were detected in various districts including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur , Ilam, Udayapur, Okhadhunga, Jhapa, Panchthar, Morang, Sankhuwasabha, Sunsari, Solukhumbu, Dhanusa, Parsa, Bara, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kavre, Chitwan, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Makwanpur, Sindhupalchowk, Kaski, Gorkha, Sindhuli,  Tanahun, Nawalparasi (East), Lamjung, Baglung, Argakhanchi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Bnke, Bardiya, Rupandehi, Jumla, Dailekh, Salyan, Kanchanpur, Kailali and Doti.

Meanwhile, 169 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 56 per cent.

Currently, there 16,019 are active cases of COVID-19, of which 9,573 are in institutional isolation and 6,446 are in home isolation. Some 8,939 persons, mostly those who have returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active cases, 164 patients are admitted to ICU and 22 are receiving treatment in ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 36,456 including 20,242 cases of recovery.
