COVID-19 update: National tally stands at 18,094 with 100 new cases, 207 recovered

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 22: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed additional 100 cases of COVID-19 today.

In 3,779 Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests performed in the last 24 hours, as many as 100 persons were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Taplejung, Saptari, Dhanusa, Bara, Parsa, Kathmandu, Sarlahi, Chitwan, Lamjung, Syangja, Baglung, Banke, Bardiya, Salyan, Kalikot, Dailekh, Bajhang and Doti.  

Dr. Gautam said that the infection rate had decreased in the last one month. “In the COVID-19 test report of June 24, the infection rate was 9.2 per cent, which decreased to 2.06 per cent on July 17,” he added.

Moreover, 207 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after testing negative for the virus. The recovery rate now stands at 70.1 per cent.

Currently, there are 5,368 active cases of COVID-19 and 20,842 people  mostrly abroad-returnees are in quarantine.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 18,094 including 12,684 cases of recovery and 42 death cases.
