COVID-19 update: 2,817 new cases, 2,812 recoveries, 21 deaths in last 24 hours

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 8: With 2,817 new cases of novel coronavirus confirmed on Sunday, Nepal's COVID-19 tally has spiked to 194,453. 

"In 12,311 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,817 persons were found with the SARS-CoV-2 infection in the last 24 hours," informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the press briefing.

Currently, there are 35,419 active cases of COVID-19 of which 6,222 are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 29,197 are in home isolation. Some 1,149 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 398 are admitted to the ICU and 82 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, some 2,812 COVID-19 patients either receiving treatment in various health facilities or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. With this, Nepal has recorded 157,926 cases of recoveries until now and the recovery rate stands at 81.1 per cent.

Moreover, 21 persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single-day fatalities recorded by the nation until now. Nepal's COVID-19 death toll has now reached 1,108.
