COVID-19 update: 2,253 new cases, 1,329 recoveries, tally jumps to 86,823

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 4: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday confirmed 2,253 new cases of COVID-19.

In 12,484 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,253 persons were found with the novel coronavirus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the MoHP in the daily press briefing today.

Meanwhile, some 1,329 COVID-19 patients staying at home isolation or receiving treatment at various institutional isolations across the nation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 73.7 per cent.

Currently, there are 22,219 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 10,326 patients are in institutional isolation and 11,893 are in home isolation. Some 4,203 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 226 are admitted to the ICU and 34 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 86,823 including 64,069 cases of recovery and 535 death cases.
