COVID-19 Update: 1,954 new cases, 2,981 recoveries, tally hits 162,354

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 28: With 1,954 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection confirmed on Wednesday, the national COVID-19 caseload has reached 162,354.

"In 8,248 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,954 were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the daily press briefing.

Currently, there are 39,643 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 7,709 patients are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 31,934 are in home isolation. Some 290 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU while 72 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility. A total of 2,889 persons are currently placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 2,981 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 121,824 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 75 per cent.

As many as 11 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 887.
