COVID-19 update: 1,551 new cases, 2,340 recoveries, tally crosses 90,000

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 6: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed 1,551 new cases of COVID-19.

In 11,047 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,551 persons were found with the novel coronavirus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the MoHP in the daily press briefing today.

Meanwhile, some 2,340 COVID-19 patients staying at home isolation or receiving treatment at various institutional isolations across the nation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 74.3 per cent.

Currently, there are 22,709 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 9,118 patients are in institutional isolation and 13,591 are in home isolation. Some 4,221 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 243 are admitted to the ICU and 40 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 90,814 including 67,542 cases of recovery and 563 death cases.
