COVID-19 update: 1,041 new cases, 1,566 recovered, tally surges to 45,277

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept. 5: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday confirmed 1,041 new cases of COVID-19.

In 12,473 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,041 persons, 349 females and 692 males, were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

Meanwhile, 1,566 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection.  The recovery rate now stands at 60 per cent.

Currently, there are 17,870 active cases of COVID-19 of which 9,866 are in institutional quarantine. Some people, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active COVID-19 patients, 167 are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 24 are receiving ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 45,277 including 27127 cases of recovery and nine death cases.
