COVID-19 tally surges to 16,423, with 255 new cases, 253 recovered

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 8: The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed 255 cases of COVID-19 today.

As many as 255 persons were found with the virus infection in 4,696 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Jhapa, Terhathum, Sunsari, Illam, Morang, Siraha, Saptari, Bara, Achham, Baitadi, Bajhang, Darchula, Doti, Gorkha, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Kathmandu, Sarlahi, Chitwan, Nawalparasi (East), Rautahat, Dang, Dhading, Dolakha, Jhapa, Kaski, Kavre, Lalitpur, Lamjung, Parsa, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Myagdi, Kaski, Gulmi, Palpa, Pyuthan, Banke, Kalikot, Rukum (West), Surkhet, Jajarkot, Mugu, Dailekh and Dadeldhura

Meanwhile, 253 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the country were discharged after recovering from the virus in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 47.2 per cent.  

Currently there are 8,636 active cases of virus infection and 25,040 people are in quarantines at different places across the country.

With this, national COVID-19 tally has reached 16,423 including 7,752 cases of recovery and 35 death cases.
