By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 9: The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed 108 new cases of COVID-19 today.
As many as 108 persons were found with the virus infection out of 4,588 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests performed in 25 laboratories across the nation, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.
The new cases were detected in Sunsari, Jhapa, Saptari, Dhanusa, Siraha, Darchula, Doti, Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Sarlahi, Chitwan, Nawalparasi (East), Makwanpur, Baglung, Sindhupalchowk, Tanahun, Myagdi, Gorkha, Kaski, Lamjung, Banke, Dang, Surkhet, Dailekh, Mugu, Bajhang, Achham, Bajura, Kanchanpur and Kailali.
Of the 108 infected, five are from Kathmandu, said Dr Gautam.
Five districts, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu, Mustang and Humla have become COVID-19 free zone.
Meanwhile, 139 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities have recovered from the virus infection in the last 24 hours.
Currently, there are 8,605 active cases of COVID-19 and 24,425 are in quarantine.
With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 16,531 including 7,891 cases of recovery and 35 death cases.
