 Above 400 quintals of herbal products brought at Simkot Airport is likely to rot due to the heavy snowfall.

The herbal products stored at the Simkot Airport for transporting to Nepalgunj and Surkhet is gradually decaying because of snowfall, said trader Kaliwane Budha.

More than 400 quintals of herbal products collected from the different places by the businessmen were kept at the airport for supplying them to other districts, he said.

This amount of herbal products was the stock of last year and it was ready position to transport in other districts this year, he said.

“The continued snowfall for the last four days has dampened almost all herbal products. The dampened herbs have not yet received sun. Therefore, all products are likely to get damaged,” he said.

According to him, the traders will face loss of hundreds of thousands rupees from the damages caused to the herbal products.

A trader has more than 50 quintals of herbal products including Jatamashi, Kutki and Setak Chini stored in the premises of airport, he said.

Likewise, around 200 quintals of herbal products have still been dumped in the forest due to snowfall.

The collected herbal products from the jungle were dumped at Khurpanath Rural Municipality due to halt in air and other transport services because of continual snowfall, said trader Sajak Rawal.
