Kathmandu, Sept. 23: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has given top priority to control COVID-19 by launching effective vaccination campaign against it. With the vaccination campaign as the first priority of government, 40 per cent of people in the Kathmandu Valley have already received both doses of vaccine.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), among the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, 41 per cent have received vaccine against COVID-19 in Kathmandu, 38 per cent in Lalitpur and 41 per cent in Bhaktapur. Similarly, 29 per cent of people in Bagmati Province have received both doses of vaccine against COVID-19, so far.
According to the MoHP, 6,262,780 people across the nation have taken their first dose of vaccine and 5,752,853 people have been fully vaccinated, so far. As per the update of MoHP, in total, 156,018 doses of vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours.

With the aim of providing vaccine against COVID-19 to 33 per cent of population by mid-October, the government is conducting nationwide vaccination campaign effectively. Prime Minister Deuba had already directed concerned authorities for making necessary arrangements to vaccinate all the targeted citizens by mid-April next year.
Meanwhile, according to our Bara correspondent, more than 800,000 people of Province 2 received vaccine against COVID-19.
According to the data of Health Directorate of the Province, 846,000 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday.

Among them, 801,418 people have received both doses and are fully vaccinated.
According to Dr. Bijay Kumar Jha, chief of the directorate, more people of Bara district have received COVID-19 vaccine. In total 132,582 people have received full doses of vaccine against COVID-19, said Dr. Jha. Similarly, 92,170 people were inoculated in Dhanusa, 85,645 in Mahottari and 126,070 in Sarlahi.

Likewise, 79,331 people have received the jab in Rautahat, 104,917 people in Parsa, 880,027 people in Saptari and 920,673 people in Siraha.
COVID-19 vaccines including Covishield, Vero Cell, Johnson and Johnson and AstraZeneca are being administered in the province.

The vaccine is being administered through various vaccination centres set up at various hospitals, health centres, primary health centres and health posts of the Province, said Dr. Jha. The vaccination campaign was started in Province 2 from January this year, added Dr. Jha.
