232 new cases of COVID-19, 386 recoveries, eight fatalities in 24 hours

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan. 23: With 232 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Saturday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 269,180.

"In 3,541 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 232 persons, 91 females and 141 males were found infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily update.

Currently, there are 3,452 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 778 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Also, 158 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Likewise, 147 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU and 26 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 386 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 263,734 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate is at 97.9 per cent.

Moreover, eight persons succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking Nepal's COVID-19 death toll to 1,994.
