By Chandra Pandak, Taplejung, June 23: The local level of Ward 5 of Phungling Municipality in Taplejung has started to provide computer education to the daughters-in-law of the area.

Since every field requires computer in the current time with the knowledge to operate it, the local level took the initiative to make the women of the area learn about computer and the way of operating it.

The Ward 5 office has started providing computer education to the daughters-in-law from indigenous communities.

“The computer education is a part of Ward’s programme of skill development for the people of indigenous communities,” said Bhima Devi Ojha, ward chairman of Ward 5.

As per the Ward office, the programme is being run from a budget of Rs 200,000 allocated for skill development in the ongoing fiscal year.

Women from communities such as Rai, Limbu, Gurung and Magar are being provided with computer education.

The Ward office has coordinated with Image Computer Institute to provide computer education.

As per the institute, following the risk of COVID-19 and a preventive measure, the education is being provided in two different shifts by forming two different groups.

“Two groups mean less people and ease to provide education by maintaining social distance. One group constitutes of 10 women,” said Raj Kumar Gurung, proprietor and trainer at the institute.

According to Gurung, they will provide a 90-day basic computer course to the participants.
