By Mahima Devkota, Kathmandu, May. 5: The government is all set to distribute Remidsivir, an anti-viral drug procured from Bangladesh, across the nation.

Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), said that Remdesivir would be sent directly to COVID-19 hospitals across Nepal in coordination with the Department of Drug Administration (DDA).

"The hospitals will receive the doses as per their need," said Dr. Gautam.

Santosh KC, spokesperson at the DDA, said that ‘Hamro Medi concern Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu’ had shouldered the responsibility to deliver Remdesivir to hospitals across the nation.

Similarly, Khalsa Singh, medical sales representative, from Aristo Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., said that 2,409 doses of Remdesivir were being provided to 50 COVID-19 hospitals.

According to spokesperson KC, TU Teaching Hospital will receive 135 doses of Remidsivir.

Similarly, seven hospitals including Nepal Police Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur, Health Service Department, Nepal Mediciti Hospital, Civil service Hospital will receive 108 vials of Remidsivir.

Moreover, Grande International Hospital, B&B Hospital, Norvic International Hospital, Chirayu National Hospital & Medical Institute,  OM Hospital and Research Center, Kathmandu Medical College, Bir Hospital, Nidan Hospital Ltd., Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal A.P.F Hospital Balambu, Medicare National Hospital and Research Center, Green City Hospital,  Patan Hospital,  Nepal National Hospital,  Narayani Sub-regional Hospital, Lumbini Sub-regional Hospital, Rapti Sub-Regional Hospital will receive 54 vials of the anti-viral medicine.

As many as 13 hospitals including KDC, Helping Hands Community Hospital, Bhaktpur Hospital, Mega Hospital, Fishtail Hospital & Research Centre, Kritipur Hospital, Dirghayu Guru Hospital & Research center, Kathmandu Model Hospital, Mega Hospital, Sahid Memorial Hospital, B. P. Memorial Health Institute, and Research Center, Nepal and India Friendship Hospital, and CIWEC Hospital will each receive 27 vials.

Similarly, 12 vials each will be distributed Vayodhya Hospital, Madhyapur Hospital, Khagri Hospital, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Medi Plus Health Center, Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital, Nepal Medical College, and Star Hospital.

Both Sumeru City Hospital and Bharatpur Hospital will receive 18 vials.

"Lastly, Universal College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital (UCMS) will receive 94 vial and 200 vial doses are to be administered to the COVID-19 infected patients," Singh added.

A total of 7,000 vials of Remdesivir procured from Bangladesh had arrived Nepal on Tuesday.
