One million doses of Covishield vaccine from India by Saturday

Kathmandu, Oct. 6: One million doses of the Covishield vaccine purchased by Nepal from the government of India last February will be arriving by this Saturday.

According to the Bharat Bhandari, Immunization Officer at Child Health and Immunization Section under Department of Health Services(DoHS), it has been confirmed that India will provide the remaining 1 million doses of 2 million doses that were purchased from Serum Institute of India last February will arrive by this Saturday. 

India had provided 1.1 million doses of vaccine to Nepal under grant assistance and 2 million doses were purchased by the Nepal government from India.

Nepal had made the payment of 2 million doses of Covishield on February 17 and the delivery of the first consignment as 1 million doses of Covishiled was on February 21.
