KMC to administer second dose of Vero Cell for 50 years and above from tomorrow

Kathmandu, Aug. 26: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is all set to administer the second dose of Vero Cell for three days from August 27, with an aim to inoculate 2,16,000 people with their booster dose.

According to the District Public Health Office, Kathmandu, the second dose will be given to those who have completed 21 days after receiving the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine.

Badri Bahadur Khadka, chief of the Public Health Office, Kathmandu said, “People aged 50 and above, drivers and co-drivers working in the public transport, teachers and professors as well as people travelling to countries where the immunization is mandatory, are listed to receive the second dose of Vero Cell vaccination.”

Those working on the essential services and those who had missed their second Vero Cell shot on the previous prescribed date can receive their booster shot, he added.

“We aim to inoculate as many as 216,000 people on this three days vaccination campaign,” said Chief Khadka.

Chief Khadka further informed that the second dose vaccination program will be conducted in all municipalities of Kathmandu.

Vaccination centres are allocated in all 32 wards of KMC while the other 10 municipalities are Kirtipur Municipality, Budhanilkantha Municipality, Nagarjun Municipality, Gokarneshwar Municipality, Tarakeshwar Municipality, Kageshwari Manohara Municipality, and Tokha Municipality are administering the booster dose.

Similarly, seven hospitals have been allocated for vaccination purposes. They are Bir Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital, Thapathali, Kathmandu Medical College Sinamangal, Civic Service Hospital, Baneshwor, Teaching Hospital Maharajgunj, and Radhaswami Isolation Center Samakhusi.
