By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 18: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has warned that the coming weeks will be difficult for Nepal and urged the need for collective efforts from each is a must to tackle the deadly COVID-19 infection.

Issuing a press release on Monday the MoHP said that only 59 percent of the vehicular movement has under control amid the prohibitory order.

The MoHP stressed that despite the swirling cases, many people are being careless about following the health safety protocols which have resulted in the spread of the virus in communities.  

Ministry has appealed to join hands to collectively tackle the deadly virus which has claimed the life of 5215 people within a year since the first recorded death from COVID-19 infection on May 16, 2020.

“People are still performing the rites and rituals as well as amassed for political reasons, because of which the virus is spreading rapidly across the nation,” said Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, assistant spokesperson at the Ministry.

The 20 districts of the country which has seen the most COVID-19 cases, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Rupandehi, Morang, Kailali, Kaski, Banke, Dang, Chitwan, Surkhet, Jhapa, Kanchanpur, Makawanpur, Dhanusha, Kavrepalanchok, Sunsari, Parsa, Bardiya and Palpa still fail to adhere the health protocols.
