By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jun. 9: With 4,344 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Wednesday, the nation's novel coronavirus tally has reached 615,652.
In 12,074 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 3,449 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.
Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 896 people in 4,568 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.
Of the new infections, 915 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley including 85 in Bhaktapur, 151 in Lalitpur, and 679 in Kathmandu.
Currently, there are 80,336 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 5,898 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the remaining patients are placed in home isolation. Currently, 634 people are placed in quarantine.
Of the active patients, 1,312 are admitted to the ICU and 375 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.
A total of 46 districts across the nation have over 500 active cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 5,768 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 510, 298 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 85.2 per cent.
The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday added 81 fatalities to the nation's COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 8,179.
