By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 23: Socialist Party Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party have reached agreement to unify the two parties and officially informed the Election Commission (EC) about their unification.

EC spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha confirmed that the EC had formally received the agreement made by the two parties for unification and the EC would initiate process to register a new political party of the two as soon as the two parties submit required documents to the EC.

He said application for forming a new party by merging the two has been registered at the EC by Sarad Singh Bhandari of RJP and Upendra Yadav of Socialist Party and the registration number was 1388.

The EC spokesperson said that the new political party would be recognised once it is published in the national gazette as per the decision of a meeting of the EC commissioners on registering the new party after the parties willing to get unified or register a new party submit required documents including party's manifesto, charter, election symbol, decision of the central committee within 45 days.
