By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 24: The coalition of the opposition parties has registered a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding appointment of Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the main opposition Nepali Congress party, to the post of Prime Minister and reinstatement of the House of Representatives.
23 HoR members from the ruling CPN (UML) Madhav Nepal faction have also signed in the writ petition.
Although 27 HoR members of UML were in opposition to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, only 23 signed in the writ petition, according to Nira Devi Jairu, a former lawmaker from Dadeldhura district.
Gokarna Bista, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, Ganesh Kumar Pahadi and Pabitra Niraula Kharel who were in the Nepal faction stayed away from signing in the writ petition. They are said to be returning to the main party, CPN (UML). A Standing Committee meeting of the UML has decided to give a last chance for disgruntled leaders to return to the party.
As many as 146 members of the House of Representatives are said to have signed in the writ petitition.
