By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 30: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has filed a petition at the Supreme Court for the review of the SC decision to scrap unification between the then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center).

Talking to journalists after filing the writ petition, former Prime Minister Prachanda expressed optimism that reality would be made public with the review of the SC verdict as the SC decision had been made going beyond the demand in the writ petition of the applicant.

He said that the writ of the petitioner was concerned with only the name of the party, but the SC verdict went beyond it and issued decision to nullify the unification between the CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center).

Chairman Prachanda termed the SC decision unusual, unnatural and politically motivated as it had split the party that had unified already. He said leaders of the party including himself had reached the SC to file the writ also for this reason.

In addition to Prachanda, Maoist leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Barsha Man Pun and Pampha Bhusal, among others, had reached the SC to file the petition for the review of the SC decision made on March 7.

Chairman of Nepal Communist Party Rishi Ram Kattel had filed a case against the Election Commission of Nepal for registering a new party with the same name as his party's which was already registered at the EC.
