Nepalgunj, Apr. 4: Bheri Hospital that is serving thousands of patients in western Nepal became the best medical service provider in the country.
Quality Control and Regulatory Division under Ministry of Health and Population has certified the public hospital as the best hospital after its field visit and evaluation in its annual progress report.
“Bheri Hospital served the best to the patients,” it is mentioned in evaluation report.
Department of Quality Control has directly visited all the hospitals across the country for the evaluation. What type of medical services does the hospital provides to the patients? Does the hospital has enough human resources for the services they provide? How was the status of medical instruments in the hospital for the services and how hospital management was developing its strategies for its betterment were some questions for the evaluation.
Medical superintendent Dr. Prakesh Thapa in Bheri Hospital said that the hospital got 61 points in the evaluation of federal government to maintain its quality. “We are the best among all public hospitals under federal government,” he said.
According to him, the best contribution health workers and other staffs made to respond to COVID-19 was the hospital became best service provider among all. “We were not in a good status last year as we had obtained only 35 points.”
But the effective role Hospital Development Committee played for better service delivery, appropriate coordination among several wings of the hospital, efficient leadership of hospital chief and dedication of health workers had proved that the hospital was the best service provider among all.
Krishna Prasad Shrestha, member of Hospital Development Committee, expressed his happiness for the upgraded status of the hospital. “We are encouraged for something more than this achievement,” he said.
According to the evaluation, Bheri Hospital received 61 out of hundred points to be at top position, Bharatpur Hospital second with 52 points and Koshi Hospital was in third position as it got 37 points in the annual evaluation.
Bheri Hospital that has 500 beds capacity is serving around 500 patients in a day. Patients from Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim province visit this hospital for their treatment each day.
The hospital recently added eye clinics and cancer test facilities.
