Baglung's 65-year old COVID-19 patient recovers, to be discharged shortly

By Chandra Prakash Sharma, Pokhara, Apr. 18: A 65-year old female of Baglung, sixth COVID-19 patient of Nepal, who had been infected by COVID-19 has recovered from the illness and tested negative for the virus.

She was receiving treatment at Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital, Baglung, in isolation and she tested negative for the virus in two consecutive PCR tests.

Her test had reported COVID-19 negative on Thursday and she again tested negative on Saturday. This means she has recovered, said Dr. Sailendra B. Pokharel, Medical Superintendent at the hospital.

He said that preparations were going on to discharge her.

"She will be discharged either today in the evening or tomorrow morning," Pokharel added. "Her medications will continue and she will be staying in home quarantine for two weeks.

Contact tracing was done to identify people who had come in contact with her, where, all of them had tested negative for the virus.

With this, two COVID-19 patients of Nepal have recovered from the virus. Out of 30 total cases, there are now 27 active cases till the date in the country, as one patient had recovered and discharged from the hospital two months ago.
