By Dipak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, July 26: A 65-year old COVID-19 suspect, receiving treatment at Gandak Temporary COVID-19 Hospital under Narayani Hospital, died on Sunday morning.

The 65-year old elderly was an Indian national, resident of Birgunj Metropolitan City (BMC)-10 and was receiving treatment in the COVID-19 temporary hospital, said Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh, who was involved in his treatment.

After sensing some health issues, he was taken to emergency department of Narayani Hospital on Saturday. He was then admitted to Birgunj Health Care for further treatment.

At around 8:00 PM on Saturday, he tested positive for the virus in Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT). "After testing positive in RDT, the COVID-19 suspect was taken to Gandak COVID-19 Temporary Hospital. He was receiving treatment in isolation," said Dr. Udayanarayan Singh of Narayani Hospital.

The swab sample of the 65-year old was collected on Saturday. His Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test report is yet to be received.

He was also suffering from heart disease and diabetes, said Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh.  

Health condition of four COVID-19 patients serious

Meanwhile, four COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in the temporary hospital are in serious health condition, said Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh."

"Oxygen is being provided to four patients. They are in critical condition," he said.

Until now, seven persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in Parsa, informed Lalit Kumar Basnet, assistant Chief District Officer.
