Kathmandu, Apr. 23: As all crises bring opportunities, the current worldwide COVID–19 pandemic has also opened the door for people to review their previous work and bring about changes in their work.
A prominent actress-cum-director, Deepashree Niraula said that the current pandemic had offered a chance to take a closer look at life and spend quality time with the family.
“ When the situation was normal, we were always rushing to work, we had hardly any time for ourselves; but due to the nationwide lockout, I am spending time for myself,” said Niraula, the popular comedian of Tito Staya serial on NTV.
Niraula has been utilising this time doing exercises, worshiping, watching web series, loads of movies and reading books.
She believes herself as a religious person and a true follower of Lord Shiva. However, after reading the Bhagavad Gita, she considers Lord Krishna to be the most suitable God for the world today.
These days, Niraula is quite fascinated by the short movies and web series. Talking to The Rising Nepal, she said if the pandemic prolonged, she would step towards the web series and short movies. With her usual laughs, she said, “In any way, we have to entertain our audience and stay close with them.”
“Now, I have enough time to study many movies and series on the basis of which I can say that despite having enough resources and facilities, Nepali movies lack good screen play quality, and if we see the Indian cinema, they present simple or insignificant story beautifully,” said Niraula.
She believes that audiences like films based on their own culture and environment and films should be made with expertise rather than by copying.
Because of the lockdown, Chhakkapanja-4, Mundreko Comedy Club and her other projects got halted for an indefinite period.
Nowadays, different artistes are helping people in different ways. In this regard, she said, “Helping is something to do from the heart. I don't believe in showy social work and social service must be continuous and I am not that type of person.”
She said after the Chhakkapanja-3 they were supporting the students of Nawalpur district as Chhakkapanja-3 was education related movie. In addition, comedian duo Niraula and Dipak Raj Giri have been supporting 17 students for their education in the capital and Niraula is also supporting two other students in her home town Biratnagar. Regarding the current pandemic, she said that COVID–19 was not caused by humans, it suddenly broke out and took a form of fearful pandemic and now the entire world was suffering. “In such a condition, we have to accept the situation and continue the Karma (work) without fearing the consequences. All depends on god, we are the characters playing our part as directed by god,” said Niraula.
Niraula stressed that the government should provide relief to the poor and needy and provide food to all those in need.
In addition, the border should be strictly monitored to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Niraula added.
