Generally, a piece of literature describes things artistically and touches sentiments of readers with the power of words. But, we have different beats of literature and the flavour of each beat is unique. This rule applies to the travelogue beat also. What is the special about this beat < Doubtlessly, one prominent point to mention is the travelogue authors feel free and move on with sentiments as they travel and create with perceived impressions of their hearts and mind. The benefit is clear M Readers are compelled to surf through pages with artistic force of author’s sentiments.
One relevant question in this regard is, how is the under review book “Neela Golardha” of author Chandra Prasad Bhattarai? The answer is positive. Certainly, this creation offers an interesting reading of travelogue for readers.
In fact, author Bhattarai has a deep fascination with travelogue literature. Surely, we can find his passion even during the reading of this book. The detailed literary discourse, which he has made in one of the pieces of this book about the newly born baby son of Prince Williams and Kate at that time in Britain amidst illuminating blue light of happiness not only in that nation but all over the hemispheres, would not have been so juicy if he had not been a motivated travelogue author. In fact, "Neela Golardha" has come from this description and it is the book title piece of the author.
Though the author's first literary book happens to be not a travelogue but an anthology of stories, he has already two other travelogue books published to his credit before the coming of "Neela Golardha."So, since he joined this beat, he has enjoyed it and travelogue writing has become a thing of identity and devotion for him.
There are twelve pieces of essays in the “ Neela Golardha,” which altogether makes this book 249-page. Some of the essays in it are small and some are medium and a few carry descriptive sentiments and interestingly become long and the style of the author is artistic. The piece “Neela Golardha,” however, is a long essay.
The issues of development, too, are on the focus in this book because the author produces plenty of arguments against exploitation, backwardness and unhealthy behaviours; which are detrimental barriers of development of Nepal. But, as a travelogue author, Bhattarai has grounded these socio-economic elements with literary flavour to enhance the beauty of travelogue essays in the "Neela Golardha."
In the context of a rising number of travelogue authors, the literary expectations of readers in terms of creativity and publications, too, have gone up these days. How can these be met? As Bhattarai says – these things can be achieved if authors believe in the quality of writing.
There are known values of travelogue writings, too, which one needs to adhere to while writing. For it, Bhattarai also remembers words of the pioneer travelogue author Dr Tara Nath Sharma who says 'travelogue' is not only a description of the places you visit, there must also be an artistic endeavour to move readers with feelings and sentiments when journeying authors describe in their pieces of writing. It seems the author of "Neela Golardha" is not only keen to remember the contributions of seniors like Dr Tara Nath Sharma, Lain Singh Wangdel, Harka Gurung and Dhruba Chandra Gautam but is also determined to make more personal creative endeavour for travelogue writing.
We can find his zeal of writing in the "Neela Golardha" because the author here is persuasively empowered with feelings and sentiments generated with the love of the nation and even by the positive things seen in the places he visited abroad. The facts he has mingled with sentimental flow come from literature, history, development affairs, education and cultures and in many contexts he also loves to highlight multi-cultural ethos in this book.
Bhattarai has also fondly remembered a Nepali army-man named Sher Singh Rana Magar, who published a milestone travel book in the Nepali language 106-year ago. In this light, what can be said is this book contains an amalgamation of well-shaped ideas of travelogue writing and authentic facts of the nation, which are furnished with hopes and confidence of the author in favour of the development of the country. There are also good numbers of the popular Nepali sayings, which have been artistically presented in the book.
In conclusion, these eleven-piece travelogue essays are one window view entitled "Neela Golardha."The book title essay is symbolically attractive to acquaint the cross-culture theme of celebrity loving society of Britain for the Nepali readers. It has to be said that the travelogue is a chosen beat of the literature of the author. And, his love for travel is wide and he can deliver more surprises of this kind in future also.
