Myagdi, Sept. 9: Nara Bahadur BC is an extraordinary singer, who led Myagdi district for 15 consecutive years from 1980 and participated in various concerts and musical programmes.
He never became second in any musical competition. He always stood first.
“First place” seems to be his specialty.
The choice of words and the use of original Nepali language in his songs always used to entice the audience.
The astonishing singer was born in 1959 in Guwahati, India, and his ancestral home is in Mangala Gaunpalika-3, Myagdi.
He taught in school for a long time and led folk-duet songs together.
He won gold medal in 1980 by defeating the team of Kazu Sherchan in Dhaulagiri Zonal level folk song competition. Until 1995, his team always became the first continuously in the folk singing competition.
He brought music cassettes of songs like “Paanko Paat”, “Solty Jyu”, “Lagan”, “Mechi Mahakali”, “Yuddha Biram”, “Samjhana”, “Sirful” and won various awards in more than a dozen genera.
In 1985, he won a gold medal in the national sports competition in folk dance. In 2012, he was awarded the best song literary genera in the United States, and in 2016, he was also awarded for the folk artist in the United States.
He is not only phenomenal in singing but also in writing. Singer BC had published eight books and seven songs cassettes so far.
