Shree 3 is a rock trio based in Kathmandu who describes their communal bundle as a musical outlet for exploration and expression of their life experiences.
An exalted figure amidst the Nepali mainstream rock community, the group is highly influenced by the 70s’ – early 2000s’ western popular music.

Consisting of Sarad Shrestha on vocals and guitars, Rozet Gurung on bass and Robin Neupane on drums the band came together after a grunge tribute concert series. The three men were assigned in a group and their chemistry instantly gelled so well they decided to continue the venture further on.

Formed in 2016, the band’s name has no significance with the actual emergence of the term Shree 3, contrary to the popular belief; instead the name was chosen just to represent the amount of members involved in the group.
Their debut album Drabya Dharma with ten different tracks demonstrates the group’s ability to execute a wide range of rock and roll inclined soundscapes. With a few English language tracks in between the band attempted to target a global audience too.

Even on an individual level the members of the group stand well because of their past contributions as the front person Sarad Shrestha is a humongous figure for the Nepali guitar community.
His role in one of the veteran rock outfits The Axe was quite commendable as when the entire Nepali music scene was thriving on reggae inspired back-beat accenting rhythms; he was then experimenting with a denser palette of guitar riffs and eccentric rhythmic structures.

In an era of the audience literally unseeing the musicians involved in any act presented on the television, Shrestha is one of those people who made the accompanying musician look much cooler than others.
A lot of millennial guitar players agree on Shrestha being one the reasons for them to take up guitars and till date cherish his contributions as one of the finest in the Nepali music fraternity. Suncha Vox the guitarist of prominent rock outfit Albatross had released his favorite ten guitar players list from the Nepali music scene a few years back and Sarad Shrestha was one of the most prominent names in the list.

Rojet Gurung on the other hand has been actively involved in the underground community for over a decade now and has bestowed his groovy bass lines to outstanding acts such as Childwife and Nude Terror.
Similarly, Robin Neupane has been filling the drums throne alongside Shrestha in their rap rock/nu-metal inspired group Tumbleweed who blew the mainstream pop scene with their signature anthem Badlido Samaj. Neupane has also every now and then been featured in various tribute shows and was the accompanying member for Ankit Shrestha’s shows here in Nepal.
And this power trio took the centre stage with a new series of shows being hosted by the Purple Haze Rock Bar, Thamel.

Titled “Original Saturdays” it seems like the pub is about to host bands with original materials of their own to perform every once a week, a very trendy move now that was initiated by Beers and Cheers, Jhamsikhel.

The show also featured legendary rock-stars Cobweb and the much admired rock outfit ASM as the guest acts. With their desired audience showing up for their best bands the show was a hit and the rockers once again stole the show with their tightly knitted compositions and the perfect band chemistry.
