‘Discrimination’ is not a new word among us. We not only hear this word often but also witness people suffering vigorously because of it, and yet, most of us are trained either to ignore it or practice the same.
So, what exactly is discrimination? Discrimination is the prejudiced treatment performed by a person to another person regarding different categories, especially on the ground of caste, creed, race, age, or gender.
Discrimination has been prevailing in our society for a long time. We never miss a chance of seeing it taking place in almost every sector such as education, politics, health, security, sports, and so on. We get to see a person assaulting another person because of age, caste, height, weight, physical appearance, disability, family status, marital status, nationality, profession, color, race, ethnicity, religion, and many more.

Wider Prevalence
Discrimination takes place at almost every corner of the world. Human beings seem to be offending, embarrassing, and hurting other humna beings despite being known as social beings.
In our society, women are well known for being discriminated in almost every sector. Although they tackle a nerve-racking period problem every month, they are treated inferior to men when it comes to handling the situation. Although a woman, while giving birth endures the pain equivalent to breaking twenty bones at once, they are considered to be the weaker ones among men. Women are discriminated against to such an extent that in some countries people think it's a curse to have a girl born in the family and they abort the girl before she's even born.
Discrimination based on caste and ethnicity has also been prevailing in Nepal for a long time. Here, this has turned out to be one of the major issues to be resolved. People discriminate against others for their caste.
They even isolate those groups of people and strictly prohibit them from touching or even coming near to public property whereas the government guarantees their rights. Not long ago, we got to hear the sad news of the death of a 19-year-old Dalit boy Nabaraj Bika, a resident of Jajarkot district and his friends who were killed allegedly by the family of a girl he wanted to marry. The family killed him just because he was a Dalit.
People possess different color complexion depending on their country's location on earth or via genes they get from their family line. Nobody gets a choice to make when it comes to the shade of your skin. In this 21st century where many people are well educated, they still practice harassing people for having darker skin tone.
Many people even though they are skilled, aren’t getting any opportunity as they are being judged by their skin color. Racial discrimination is prevalent in almost every country including the USA.
Bad Treatment
We all must be well aware of the case of George Floyd which occurred a few months ago. George Perry Floyd Jr. (October 14, 1973 – May 25, 2020) was an African American killed after being arrested for giving a counterfeit $20 bill in a Minneapolis store. A white police officer named Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for a period, purportedly to be 8 minutes and 46 seconds. After his death, protests against police brutality quickly spread across the United States and internationally. Similarly, a lot of such behaviour is seen across the globe.
Every human has features that they carry with them from since their birth. Some people aren't fully gifted. As a human, people possess the capacity to understanding them and the emotional breakdown they go through. Still, they call them disabled forgetting that they aren't incapable rather they are differently able. But, in our society, these people are not only treated badly but also are not given any proper opportunities in almost every field.
In the name of giving special treatment, they are isolated from society. Every day and every time, people try to make others feel incapable, instead of helping them highlighting their capabilities and strengths. So, people feel demotivated, leftover, and incompetent. They lose self-belief and a very few out of many shines.
We all are well aware that roses also bear thorns but still we admire its beauty ignoring the throne. Same way, no one is perfect. Imperfection is perfection to a beautiful perspective. We, humans, do have flaws, taking advantage of other's weaknesses, acting superior, and making others suffer carries nothing but chaos with it. People are getting involved in fights, innocents are suffering and at last, nobody is at peace.

All Are Equal
We all humans should be grateful that we get this opportunity to survive in this beautiful world. This is only one life we can guarantee and fill this life with beautiful memories and wonderful experiences. In this short life, why to take grudges on others and waste it. Let's all be positive and live this life joyfully.
We all are equally important to make our society complete. We may not have identical features but we all have the same red blood flowing in our veins. We all breathe in the same atmosphere and inhale the same oxygen for our survival.
We all as a whole are a same family and families do not harm each other. Rather they protect each other and stay loyal to them. A family member never judges another member on any basis.
The trend of discrimination on any basis has to be changed. All people should get an equal chance to live peacefully in this world. And most importantly change starts from you.
