In recent years, the part-time job has become a popular fad among students. A part-time job generally describes jobs that one is engaged in between 1 to 34 hours per week.
Workers are considered to be part-time when they work fewer than thirty hours per week. Those workers do not receive additional benefits such as health insurance, sick leave, paid holidays, or vacations. A part-time job also can reduce the amount of stress that you’re under because you may not be given the same level of responsibility and you’re able to create a better work-life balance.

A part-timer can also refer to a student usually pursuing higher education by taking a few courses, rather than a full course work each semester. The debates about the pros and cons of a full and part-time job since time began.

Some pros regarding the part-time jobs are like: extra time to pursue something else, gateway to advanced opportunities, less stress, better flexibility, develops time management skills. The trend of employment among public students in Nepal has been increasing rapidly. However, Data Entry is the most common and popular part-time job among the students in Nepal as it doesn't require sophisticated technical skills.

Public college students are also getting involved in part-time jobs. The main objective of this study is to know public college student's views on part-time jobs. However, the specific objectives of the study are:
Identifying public college students' understanding of a part-time job. Understanding readiness regarding a part-time job.
Recommending effective job opportunities for businesses.

Study and Data Analysis
Many types of research have been conducted on part-time jobs nation and worldwide. As well as similar studies can also be found regionally-wide. Even a few papers explore the readiness of the student to do part-time jobs and the student's understanding of part-time jobs in the Nepalese context.
However, the proper and effective management strategy for a part-time job is still not properly explored. In the case of Nepal, a part-time job is not in frequent use and that could be the reason there is very little research conducted in the area related to a part-time job concerning literature review.

Therefore, this study contributes to helping concerned parties to understand the student's view and readiness to do a part-time job. This study also aims to suggest different effective proper management strategies for part-time jobs that could help the students of public colleges. It would be highly useful to the student and entrepreneur to understand more about a part-time job.
The study uses primary sources of data and the questionnaire was divided into four sections i.e., Personal information, public college student’s understanding of part-time jobs, students’ readiness for part-time jobs, and management strategy.

Similarly, questions were structured concerning the objectives to effectively meet the required aim of the study. The surveyed data was initially inputted into MS Excel and then analysed by using various statistical techniques like strata.

Summary of the study
The specific objectives of the research are to understand readiness for part-time jobs and to recommend effective job opportunities for business. This research is based on a descriptive research design method.
However, this method is suitable when the researcher wants to describe the present situation with the help of research done according to past and present data as well as a purposive sampling method (non-probability sampling) to achieve.

To achieve the research objective, a questionnaire has been devised which consists of the question that could serve the objective of the study. This type of research is based on the primary data. The respondent was selected on a convenience basis from the public school at Patan.

Primary sources were used to collect information from the respondent through the questionnaire method. The questionnaire has gone through pretesting to avoid any kind of ambiguity and know the reliability and validity.
Data presentation and analysis are done on socio-demographic characteristics of the respondent; second deals with public college student's understanding of part-time jobs; third deals with student's readiness about the part-time job: fourth deals with proper management strategy.

In the socio-demographic part, this study has observed the various demographic factors such as sex, age, marital status, family size, family income, formal education of the respondent where 55.55% of the respondents were female. The respondents belong to the age group of 18-19 and very few (9.52%) fall into the age group of 22-23. More than half (61.90%) of the respondents have a formal education of lower secondary level.
This study assessed the public college student’s understanding of part-time job which shows the familiarity towards a part-time job, source of information, the effectiveness of part-time among students, the level they agree and also either the college timing and study affects students doing a part-time job or not.

The study also shows more than half (57.14%) of the respondents were familiar with part-time jobs. It reveals that 73.02% agree that a part-time job is effective for students where 65.08% also agree that college timing and study affect students doing a part-time job. Thus, they believe that study is their priority at this age.

This study was also conducted to understand the student's readiness for part-time jobs. The result shows the number of students involved in part-time job & the duration including reasons to get involved in a job. It also mentioned the level of income and identifying whether they are satisfied with the job or not. It was found that nearly one-third of the respondents were involved in a part-time job to gain experience. Similarly, the respondents complained that there is no rule made by the government for the fair payment system.

Hampering Grades
By considering the result it is found that the government has not played a role in making rules and regulations regarding fair payment to part-time jobs. The study concluded that all the respondents were not satisfied with their present job due to less payment and lack of time flexibility. They reported that it would be easier if opportunities were provided with more time flexibility along with some extra benefits.

The study also prioritises understanding student's readiness for part-time jobs. If they are ready then what are their expectations from the job and if they are not ready why they are not ready. It is also analysed why some of the respondents were not satisfied with their job. Thus, it results that working and doing a part-time job together at this level hamper their studies and grades to some extent.
