Kathmandu, Nov. 11: Nepali Samaj Germany, an organisation of non-resident Nepalis, has donated books to a higher secondary school of Siraha district.
Coordinator of the Samaj, Shiva Adhikari, has recently handed over the books worth Rs. 300,000 to Chandra Higher Secondary School, the second oldest school of the country.
The books were donated for the school library, Madhusudan Karn, headmaster of the school, said.
A few years back, the Nepali Samaj had helped establish the library.
According to Adhikari, the NRN organisation has been supporting the school since 2013.
Adhikari said that they had established a well-equipped computer lab as well at the school and donated 25 computers.
Similarly, the Nepali Samaj has been organising training for the schoolteachers by outsourcing experts from Germany.
Adhikari had recently come to Nepal for handing over the books. He has been staying and working in Frankfurt, Germany since 1999.
“I interacted with the students and took motivational classes for students of classes 11 & 12. The students were found very curious about the school system of Germany and possibilities of higher studies in Germany,” he said.
He further said, “Knowledge transfer is much more essential for Nepal than financial support.”
