Kathmandu, Apr. 6: With the enforcement of nationwide lockdown to combat the spread of novel coronavirus pandemic, many people are finding it difficult to manage two decent meals a day.
The biggest problem during the lockdown has been the shortage of food and vegetables, especially for those who used to depend on their daily wages to buy food.
However, some generous people have been donating money to the central fund created by the government for the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19, hoping that the government would utilise that money to buy food for the needy people.
A few Nepali celebrities have also donated money to the fund to support the government to cope with the crisis unleashed by the global pandemic.
Recently, famous Nepali movie actor Paul Shah donated Rs 500,000 to the needy technicians working in the film industry.
By announcing his support via social media, he wrote, “The lockdown has resulted in the halt of shooting of many films, leaving many technicians jobless and I have donated Rs 500,000 to support them.”
Similarly, filmmaker and comedian Dipak Raj Giri and his “Chakka Panja” team have provided Rs. 120,000 to the film technicians and have requested others to support the needy people.
Earlier, singer Prakash Saput had donated Rs 200,000, actress Barsha Siwakoti Rs 100,000 and folk singer Badri Pangeni Rs 50,000 to the central fund.
