Martyrs’ Memorial Park turns tourist spot

Hetauda, Jan. 28: Located at Ward No. 11 of Hetauda Su-Metropolitan City, the Martyrs’ Memorial Park is now becoming an attraction among domestic as well as foreign tourists.
The park possesses life-size statues of late BP Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh, Pushpa Lal Shrestha and Monamohan Adhikari, who had led Nepal’s major democratic movements. The park has been constructed in honour of those leaders.
“The park has now become one of the major tourist attractions in Hetauda,” said Ram Chandra Neupane, the chief of the park development committee secretariat.
The park is also centre of study for tourists, students, historians and others who are interested in learning about the country’s democratic movements.
The park also incorporates a water foundation, botanical garden and resting place.
Neupane informed that the park becomes crowded with visitors from home and abroad on Nepali and English New Year days and other public holidays.
The park has also started to become a choice among Indian tourists because of its scenic beauty and favourable climate.
The park also contains a memorial stone with the faces of 13 martyrs carved in it. Besides, there is a small memorial garden for late leader Madan Bhandari. The park also includes a refreshment centre with swimming pool and ferries wheel. Besides, there is a zoo that houses various animal species of animals such deer, leopard, guinea, crocodile, tortoise and rabbits.
A lot of picnickers also enjoy visiting the park from October to February.
