Kathmandu, Aug. 22: The usual pattern of Haritalika Teej is that the wife fasts for the longevity of her husband and prosperity of the family.
The tradition of fasting only by wives has gradually been changing and now husbands are also found fasting in Teej for the longevity of their wives!
As per the changing nature of Teej fast, Nepali male celebrities have also started fasting wishing long life and good health of their wives and for a happy relationship between the husband and wife.
Singer Pramod Kharel took a fast on Teej Friday for his wife Deepa, who has been sick for three months. After delivery of her second child, singer Kharel’s wife had post-partum cardiomyopathy.
Singer Kharel twitted, “On the day of Teej, the wife always fasts for the longevity of her husband, but it has been three months she got sick. Although there is a lot of improvement, she cannot fast this time. Why don’t I fast for her this time and this time I am fasting for her.”
Likewise, veteran comedian Kiran KC has also been fasting in Teej for the longevity of his wife for the last 25 years.
Taking to the social media, KC said Teej is the most civilised and glorious festival which carries culture, tradition and ways the wives show love and respect to their husbands.
He also advised women to eat water and fruit while fasting and take care of their health.
Nowadays not only celebs but also many men fast for their wives’ health and longevity in the women-centric festival of Teej.
