By Our Correspondent, Jajarkot, Jan 4: Ancient temples, Chaityas and Gumbas of Ghogi, in Chedagad Municipality Ward No. 8, in Jajarkot district, are in disarray due to the lack of conservation efforts.

As much as historically important and appealing they are, such shrines have received little or no attention from the concerned authorities, because of which they are on the verge of disappearance.

Rajuraja Singh, who is well-versed in Jajarkot’s history and culture, informs that these shrines were built by previous rulers of Jajarkot, the Bhotes or the people of Bhot (Tibet) back in the 13th century. However, these masterfully sculpted age-old monuments are reeling under threats of collapse, worries Singh.

Preservation and careful study of such Chaityas and Gumbas can bolster tourism in the district, claim locals.

Spread over three ropanis of land, the centuries-old monuments might be completely untraceable owing to increasing land encroachment, other emerging threats.
