By Mannu Shahi, Kathmandu, May 16: Manasik Karagar is a straight-edge hardcore trio formed by two extremely talented Helsinki-based musicians guitarist Saurav and drummer Kat, and Damak-based euphonious screamer Mausam.

All three musicians are super busy with their personal projects however they aligned together this year to create this splendid collaboration.

Revealing their whereabouts through their social media handles, this supergroup just released their jaw-droppingly brilliant demo for their debut single on 14th May 2021, Friday.

Titled ‘Aswikaar’, the single was dropped from the project’s newly created YouTube Channel, so subscribing and supporting such authentic artistic is a must for the scene to thrive and keep exploring more experimental realms in music.

The band explains their name to be symbolic of mental health issues and how conservative society is when it comes to this serious problem. While other physical illnesses are acknowledged and treated as life-threatening danger, mental health problems are mostly ignored, suppressed, and perceived as taboo instead of critically working and empathizing with the patients.

Thus, the trio prioritizes advocating about this topic, vocalizing mental health issues through their music, setting examples of living a positive healthy lifestyle, and spreading this message further by starting out with themselves, their friends, colleagues, and audience.

All three members from the group follow a vegan straight-edge lifestyle i.e. they don’t consume any intoxicating substance, animals or animal products; the members all exercise regularly and live life in a very productive routine-oriented conduct. Guitarist Saurav X Tamrakar and drummer Katju Brelo are partners living and playing music together in their primary project Defiant, a Finland-based Wanderer Hardcore group that released their new full-length album Kill Your Idols on 29th Jan 2021.

Similarly, Mausam X Sundas is the founder and composer of Damak oriented hardcore band ‘Void Turned to Message’ who dropped their debut ‘EP Bidroha Ko Biu’ last year on October 31.

Long-time musical associates and vivid supporters of each other’s work, Saurav who is an active freelancing audio engineer, was also on production duties for the EP Bidroha Ko Biu.

Thus, the news of the collaboration spread excitement in the underground music community and all of us inclined towards the more heavy side of Nepali music were eagerly waiting for the final creation to be publicized. And it was so worth the wait.

The lyrics are filled with this wonderful message of quitting alcohol consumption, the music loaded with heavy riffs, insane growls, killer drums; every bit of the tune so on point, so raw and so impressive that I rather suggest you check it out for yourself.
