Gurkhas: The Story of a Bravery to be made

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Aug. 10: Filmmaker Vidhan Karki is going to make ‘Gurkhas: The Story of a Bravery’ a film based on the story of the Gorkha army.

The film will be produced in collaboration with Nepali company NepCine and South Indian Film Production Company. Karki is directing the film.

Karki and Ryan Rays have written the script of the movie.

According to director Karki, the South Indian production company has shown interest in the story of the film.

The film will tell the tale of Gorkha army and his family in Nepal. The film will depict the struggle of selfless Nepali youth to join the Gorkha army and fight in other countries, said Vidhan.

The film, which will be produced at a cost of about 100 million Indian rupees (Rs.160 million), will feature noted Nepali actors as well as South Indian and Bollywood actors.

The film will be shot in Nepali and Hindi and will be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, English and Chinese languages.

Shooting of the action drama flavour film will start its shooting in 2022 and will be released worldwide in 2023.

Karki, who has studied film production in the United States, has been active in producing music videos, short films, documentaries and television commercials for over a decade.

He  has directed music  videos of popular songs like “Naboli Naboli”, “Keto Ali Kamaune Hos”, “Kale Keta 2”, “Dharti Aakash”, “Maile Boleko Chhain Dhater’ and more.

Karki has won the award in the category of  ‘Best Music Video Concept’ for  ‘Keto Ali Kamaune Hos’ in the category of music video at the  ‘Second Roshani Reels International Film Festival’ in India.

He is also the founding president of the Nepal Music Video Directors Society.
