Kathmandu, June 2: American Grammy nominee singer and song writer Mike Posner reached atop Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) Tuesday morning.
According to Mingma Shrepa, chairman of Seven Summit Tracks, singer Poser reached conquered the highest peak at 4:45 am on Tuesday.
Singer Posner scaled the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest to raise money for the Detroit Justice Centre through corporate sponsors and a GO Fund Me Page.
According to Seven Summit Tracks, the singer and songwriter climbed Mt. Everest along with American professional endurance athletes Colin O’Brady, his wife Jeena Maarie Besaw and Dr. Jon Kedrowski.
Posner, who was nominated for popular Grammy award for his song “I Took a pill in Ibiza”, had earlier announced that he would climb Mt. Everest to raise funds for the Detroit Justice Centre.
Posner writes on the official ‘GO Fund Me Page’, “After my dad passed away, I felt stuck under the weight of my own life. In 2019, I walked across America in order to find out who I was when I wasn’t Mike Poser, Grammy nominated singer- songwriter.”
His team was accompanied by Dawa Finjo, Chhu Nurbu, Nima, Dawa Chhiring, Lakpa and Pasang Shrepa to the summit.
Other members of the SST Everest Expedition who scaled Mt. Everest with Posner included Zong Miao from China, Mexican climber Erix Salas Absolo and Dutch climber Jur Rademakers.
Posner has written songs for the popular singers, including Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, Labrinth and Nick Jonas.
Posner said through Go Fund Page that he chose the organisation because of the criminal justice reform work it did. He scaled Mr. Everest in memory of his late father, who was a criminal defense attorney in Detroit.
Mingma said, “It is a matter of pride for Nepal that a successful international singer and songwriter like Mike Posner has climbed Mt. Everest. Due to the Mike initiation, other international celebrities and enthusiastic people across the world would be inspired to make attempts on Mt. Everest.”
